A severe cold wave gripped northern Rajasthan in mid-December 2025 with temperatures plunging well below seasonal averages. Lunkaransar near Bikaner recorded the season's early low at 5.9°C, while IMD issued yellow alerts for Shekhawati region districts including Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Churu.

By late December, Fatehpur in Sikar district recorded 1.6°C, and Nagaur touched 1.9°C. Dew froze into ice across agricultural fields in Churu and Bikaner divisions. Dense fog reduced visibility significantly, impacting road and rail traffic. The state government directed opening of night shelters and distribution of blankets to homeless populations across all affected districts.
