Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the 6th International Agronomy Congress (IAC-2025) on 24 November 2025 at the NPL Auditorium, Pusa Campus, New Delhi. The three-day event running 24 to 26 November 2025 is jointly organised by the Indian Society of Agronomy (ISA) with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), and the Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS). Over 1,000 scientists, policymakers, students, development partners and industry experts from India and abroad are participating alongside representatives from FAO, CIMMYT, ICRISAT, IRRI, ICARDA and IFDC. Speaking at the inaugural session, Chouhan stated that smart, sustainable and profitable agriculture is the foundation of Viksit Bharat @2047 and released the IAC-2025 Declaration. The Declaration prioritises soil-carbon sequestration, water-efficient farming, AI-based digital agriculture under the Agri-Stack framework, mainstreaming of natural and regenerative agriculture, targeted innovation programmes for youth and women farmers, next-generation agronomy education, and One-Health plus LiFE Mission plus Net-Zero 2070 aligned agricultural strategies. Minister of State Shri Bhagirath Choudhary underscored dryland agriculture needs citing Rajasthan and hill regions of Uttarakhand. Ten thematic symposia will cover climate-resilient and carbon-neutral farming, precision input management, genetic potential harnessing, energy-efficient machinery and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, aligned with SDG-1, SDG-2, SDG-12, SDG-13 and SDG-15.
