UNESCO's World Heritage Centre flagged serious concerns over the conservation of the Jaipur Walled City, a World Heritage Site since 2019. Encroachments, unregulated construction, and insensitive alterations within the core and buffer zones were highlighted as key threats.

The World Heritage Committee has given Jaipur until December 2026 to submit a comprehensive report addressing issues raised in 2023 and 2025. Specific concerns include the Kalupur Railway precinct redevelopment in the buffer zone and the Danapith Fire Station redevelopment within the core heritage area. The Rajasthan government is finalising a Special Area Heritage Plan under the Jaipur Masterplan. Failure to respond adequately could risk the city's heritage status.
