Deendayal (Kandla), V.O. Chidambaranar (Tuticorin), and Paradip ports have been designated as Green Hydrogen Hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, according to guidelines issued in June 2025 and operationalised in October 2025 by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

These hubs will serve as key centres for hydrogen production and consumption, accessing incentives under central and state schemes. India targets 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen production by 2030. The designation aims to boost electrolyser manufacturing, renewable energy integration, and export potential. Rajasthan, with its vast solar capacity exceeding 25 GW, is positioned as a key upstream supplier of renewable energy for green hydrogen production.
