The Ahmedabad Crime Branch became the first law enforcement body in India to be recognised as an Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) by integrating Aadhaar verification with its PATHIK hotel tracking software, as reported on January 30, 2026. The system allows real-time identity verification of hotel guests using Aadhaar-based offline verification.

PATHIK (Police Analytics Tracking & Hotel Integrated Knowledge) is a software system that tracks hotel guest registrations to prevent criminal activity, terrorism, and trafficking. The Aadhaar integration eliminates the need for manual ID verification and creates a digital audit trail. The UIDAI granted OVSE status under the Aadhaar Act provisions for offline verification without accessing the central database.
