World Consumer Rights Day was observed on March 15, 2026, with this year's global focus on digital consumer protection. India's Department of Consumer Affairs organised awareness campaigns across states to educate consumers about their rights in the digital marketplace, including e-commerce fraud protection, data privacy, and digital payment security.

India's Consumer Protection Act, 2019 provides for a Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) and e-commerce specific rules under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. The National Consumer Helpline (1800-11-4000 / 1915) has been integrated with AI-powered chatbots for faster complaint resolution. Over 5 lakh complaints were resolved through the Integrated Grievance Redress Mechanism (INGRAM) portal in 2025.
