Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Paatil inaugurated the new office of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) in New Delhi and launched three digital platforms for monitoring over 6,600 specified dams across India under the Dam Safety Act, 2021. NETRA (NDSA Engine for Tracking and Review using AI), developed in collaboration with the Indian Navy's WESEE laboratory, is an AI-enabled platform for real-time dam safety analysis. The Rashtriya Bandh Suraksha Darpan (RBSD), developed with C-DAC, enables dam break scenario modelling and impact visualisation. An updated website with GIS mapping was also launched. The digital tools mark a major shift towards AI-enabled, data-driven dam safety governance in India.
