The Government of India launched Nyaya Setu, an AI-enabled chatbot platform designed to enhance access to justice and legal information for citizens. The platform provides legal assistance in multiple Indian languages, helping bridge the gap between the formal legal system and common citizens who often lack awareness of their legal rights.

Nyaya Setu leverages advanced natural language processing to understand user queries and provide relevant legal information, connect users with appropriate legal aid services, and guide them through basic legal procedures. The platform covers areas including consumer rights, family law, labour disputes, property matters, and criminal law awareness.

The initiative aims to address the massive pendency of over 5 crore cases across Indian courts by promoting pre-litigation resolution, directing citizens to Lok Adalats and mediation centers, and reducing frivolous litigation. It aligns with the government''s broader Digital India and Access to Justice programs, and is expected to particularly benefit rural populations who face barriers in accessing legal services.
