On December 8, 2025, India officially commenced the countdown to the 2nd WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine, scheduled for December 17–19, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The summit was co-hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and India's Ministry of Ayush. The theme was 'Restoring Balance: The Science and Practice of Health and Well-being'. Delegations from over 100 countries participated, including Ministers, policymakers, industry leaders, scientists, and Indigenous medicine practitioners. WHO unveiled the Traditional Medicine Global Library — a digital platform consolidating 1.6 million resources on traditional medicine, from scientific studies to Indigenous knowledge. The Health & Heritage Innovations (H2I) initiative was also launched to bridge traditional practices with cutting-edge technologies including AI, genomics, and digital health. On December 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the closing ceremony, where the Delhi Declaration on Traditional Medicine was adopted. PM Modi launched the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP) and unveiled the Ayush Mark, a global quality benchmark for Ayush products and services. The first WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat in 2023 under India's G20 presidency. The summit represents a significant milestone in India's efforts to mainstream Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) within the global healthcare system, positioning traditional medicine not as a fringe alternative but as an evidence-based complement to modern medicine.
