The 20th session of the UNESCO Inter-Governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was held in early December 2025. India has 15 elements inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, including Yoga, Kumbh Mela, Ramlila, Chhau Dance, and Koodiyattam.

India's diverse intangible heritage includes performing arts, oral traditions, rituals, festive events, traditional craftsmanship, and knowledge concerning nature. Rajasthan's Kalbeliya folk dance was inscribed in 2010. The state's rich intangible heritage also includes Phad painting traditions, Manganiyar and Langha music, and puppetry (Kathputli) traditions of the Bhat community.
