The Department of Science and Technology (DST) launched the India-Netherlands Hydrogen Fellowship Programme on February 6, 2026 in New Delhi. An MoU was signed between the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and 19 Indian IITs for collaborative research on green hydrogen.

The programme is open to Indian PhD scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members. It focuses on hydrogen system integration, safety standards, and techno-economic analysis, aligning with the National Green Hydrogen Mission and India's Energy Independence by 2047 vision. This is significant for Rajasthan, which hosts major green hydrogen hub plans in the Jodhpur-Barmer region.
