A Fishing Cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) was spotted for the first time in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve (RVTR), Bundi district, Rajasthan, during routine tiger monitoring by RVTR's biologist and Dalelpura tracking team in the Ramgarh Range.

Before this discovery, RVTR was home to four small cat species: Jungle Cat, Rusty-spotted Cat, Asiatic Wildcat, and Caracal. The Fishing Cat brings the total to five, underscoring the health of the reserve's wetland ecosystems. The Fishing Cat is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List and is typically found in wetlands and riverine environments.
