On November 15, 2025, India observed Janjatiya Gaurav Divas — Tribal Pride Day — to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda (1875–1900), the revered tribal freedom fighter and spiritual leader from the Munda community of present-day Jharkhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national-level celebrations from the Narmada district of Gujarat, unveiling development projects worth over ₹9,700 crore for tribal welfare. Birsa Munda — known as Dharti Aaba (Father of the Earth) — led the Ulgulan (the Great Tumult) uprising against British colonial oppression and exploitative zamindari systems in the late 19th century. The 2024–25 period has been designated as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh. The Government of India's Ministry of Tribal Affairs announced the establishment of 11 tribal museums across the country to preserve the history of tribal freedom movements. Additionally, one lakh houses, tap water connections for 10,000 households, 228 multi-purpose centres, and 42 Eklavya Model Residential Schools were inaugurated. Rajasthan's tribal belt communities — particularly in Dungarpur, Banswara, and Udaipur — participated in state-level events recognising contributions of Bhil, Meena, Garasia, and Saharia tribes to India's freedom struggle.
