Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme for girls aged 14 years from Ajmer, Rajasthan on February 28, 2026. The single-shot Gardasil 4 vaccine provides protection against HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18 that cause cervical cancer. Vaccines are available free-of-cost at government facilities to approximately 1.15 crore girls across all States and UTs.

During his Rajasthan visit, PM Modi also inaugurated development projects worth over ₹16,680 crore and distributed appointment letters to more than 21,000 newly selected youths in Rajasthan government departments. Girls turning 15 within 90 days of launch are also eligible under the three-month intensive campaign.
