On October 15, 2025, Commonwealth Sport announced that India's bid for Ahmedabad (Amdavad) had been recommended to host the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. The formal confirmation came on November 26, 2025, when delegates of 74 Commonwealth nations ratified the decision at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow. The 2030 Commonwealth Games — the XXIV edition — will be the centenary edition and the second Commonwealth Games hosted by India after Delhi 2010. Scheduled for October 2030, the event will feature 15–17 sports. Core sports include Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Artistic Gymnastics, Netball, Boxing, and Bowls. Union Sports Minister Mandaviya called it 'a huge moment for Indian sports'. India competed against Nigeria for hosting rights. Venue planning in Gujarat is expected to focus on using, adapting and connecting existing infrastructure.
