Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched NITI Aayog's 'AI for Viksit Bharat Roadmap' and 'Frontier Tech Repository' under the Frontier Tech Hub on September 15, 2025. The roadmap, prepared in partnership with McKinsey & Company, estimates that AI could add $1 to $1.4 trillion to India's GDP by 2035, helping bridge 30-35% of India's growth gap for sustained 8%+ GDP growth.

Sector-specific projections include $50-55 billion for banking through fraud detection and compliance, $85-100 billion for manufacturing through AI-driven automation, and up to 30% reduction in pharmaceutical drug discovery costs. Supporting initiatives include the Frontier 50 Initiative to deploy frontier tech in 50 Aspirational Districts/Blocks, and NITI Frontier Tech Impact Awards for States.
