The Fishing Cat was recorded for the first time in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Bundi district, Rajasthan, during routine tiger monitoring. The species has the scientific name Prionailurus viverrinus. The record came from a camera trap in Ramgarh Range, Bundi, and it adds a new entry to the reserve's small-cat list. With this sighting, five small cat species are now recorded in the reserve: Jungle Cat, Rusty-spotted Cat, Asiatic Wildcat, Caracal, and Fishing Cat.

The conservation value of the sighting is high because the Fishing Cat is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. The species is usually associated with wetlands, riverine habitats, mangroves, marshes, swamps, and grasslands near waterbodies. Its record in a tiger reserve in semi-arid Rajasthan therefore highlights the importance of local water-linked microhabitats and systematic scientific monitoring.

Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve was notified as a tiger reserve in 2022. It was recognised as India's 52nd tiger reserve and Rajasthan's fourth after Ranthambore, Sariska, and Mukundra. Revise this update through the reserve's location, its 2022 notification, its rank as India's 52nd and Rajasthan's fourth tiger reserve, the Fishing Cat's Vulnerable status, and the list of five small cat species. In prelims, the likely facts are the location, species name, conservation status, and the number of small cat species now recorded in the reserve. In mains, the same update can support short notes or analytical answers on wildlife corridors, habitat conservation, and the role of regular scientific monitoring. For static GK, it should be revised with tiger reserves, Red List categories, and wildlife habitats of Rajasthan.
