Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 49th PRAGATI meeting on September 24, 2025. PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation. The meeting reviewed 8 critical infrastructure projects spread across 15 States and Union Territories, with a cumulative investment of more than ₹65,000 crore. The projects belonged to the Mines, Railways, Water Resources, Industrial Corridors, and Power sectors.

The governance significance lies in the way PRAGATI brings the Centre and States together to fast-track major projects, address bottlenecks, set clear timelines, and improve coordination among agencies. The Prime Minister underlined that delayed execution creates a double cost: project expenditure rises, and citizens do not receive essential services and infrastructure on time. Officials were therefore asked to follow a result-oriented approach and focus on time-bound implementation. In such cases, administrative capacity is tested not by announcements alone, but by clearing bottlenecks and completing projects on the ground.

For static GK, PRAGATI should be understood as a three-tier system linking the Prime Minister's Office, Union Government Secretaries, and Chief Secretaries of States. It was launched on March 25, 2015, and uses digital data management, video-conferencing, and geo-spatial technology. For RAS and UPSC preparation, the issue connects with e-governance, cooperative federalism, project monitoring, infrastructure development, and citizen-centric administration. It can produce factual prelims questions and mains questions on accountability, coordination, and timely delivery of public services.
