Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari (Road Transport and Highways) and Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways) jointly launched the PRISM-SG (Portal for Rail-Road Inspection & Stages Management - Steel Girders) portal on March 25, 2026, in New Delhi. The portal is designed to digitise and streamline the approval and inspection processes for Steel Girders used in Road Over Bridges (ROBs).

The PRISM-SG portal enables end-to-end online submission of documents, scrutiny, raising and resolution of queries, approvals, scheduling of inspections, and uploading of inspection reports and test results. It brings together all key stakeholders including Road Owning Departments, Indian Railways, contractors, fabricators, and inspection agencies on a single integrated digital platform.

The portal is expected to slash the approval and inspection timeline from approximately 12 months to about 3-4 months, a 75% reduction. It includes functionalities for Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Welding Procedure Specification Sheets (WPSS), and fabrication stage inspections, with a complete audit trail and real-time monitoring capabilities.
