The Government of India launched the ₹600 crore 'Kapas Kranti Mission' to promote high-yield, long-staple cotton cultivation across major growing states including Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced the mission in Hyderabad. Key features include High-Density Plantation (HDP) techniques, superior seed varieties, the Kapas Kisan App for farmers to pre-book sales slots and bypass middlemen, establishment of new ginning and storage infrastructure, and training programs on modern cultivation. Simultaneously, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) began cotton procurement in Telangana from October 21 at 122 centres with MSP raised 8.3% to ₹7,710/quintal (medium staple) and ₹8,110/quintal (long staple).
