Russia has offered to significantly increase crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to India amid the ongoing West Asia crisis that has disrupted global energy markets. The offer came during high-level discussions between Indian and Russian energy officials, with Russia proposing long-term supply agreements at preferential rates.

India has already become one of the largest buyers of Russian crude since 2022, with imports reaching over 2 million barrels per day. The new offer includes expanding LNG supplies through the Northern Sea Route and additional crude oil deliveries through alternative payment mechanisms. Russian crude currently accounts for approximately 35-40% of India''s total crude imports. The proposal aligns with India''s energy diversification strategy, though it presents diplomatic challenges given Western sanctions on Russian energy exports. India has maintained that it will continue purchasing energy from wherever it gets the best deal for its 1.4 billion population.
