The International Labour Organization (ILO) released its landmark report 'The State of Social Justice: A Work in Progress (2025)' ahead of the Second World Summit for Social Development, marking 30 years since the 1995 Copenhagen Summit. The report highlighted that multidimensional poverty in India fell from 29% (2013-14) to 11% (2022-23), aligning with the global progress theme.

The report emphasised the need for stronger social protection systems, decent work opportunities, and inclusive growth policies. It noted that despite global economic growth, inequality persists in many developing nations, with 52% of the world's workers still in informal employment.
