On September 22, 2025, Gram Panchayats were conferred with the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2025 under a newly instituted category dedicated to grassroots-level initiatives in digital service delivery. The Awards were conferred during the 28th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office and MoS for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. The Conference was inaugurated the same day by Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. After rigorous multi-tier evaluation of more than 1.45 lakh entries nationwide, four Gram Panchayats were awarded under the new category 'Grassroots-level initiatives in Gram Panchayats for deepening service delivery'. Rohini Gram Panchayat in Dhule District, Maharashtra, won the Gold Award as the first Gram Panchayat in the state to adopt a fully paperless e-Office system, offering 1,027 online services with 100 per cent household digital literacy. West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat in West Tripura District, Tripura, won the Silver Award for its Citizen Charter-driven governance with online services such as birth, death and marriage certificates, trade licenses, property records, and MGNREGS job cards. Two Jury Awards went to Palsana Gram Panchayat in Surat District, Gujarat (QR/UPI-based property tax payments, over 10,000 citizens served annually) and Suakati Gram Panchayat in Kendujhar District, Odisha (24/7 citizen access via OdishaOne and Seva Odisha). Each award includes a trophy, certificate, and financial incentives of ₹10 lakh (Gold) and ₹5 lakh (Silver), to be reinvested in citizen-centric initiatives. The recognition was jointly instituted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
