The Union Home Ministry announced the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak (Central Home Minister Efficiency Medal) 2025 on October 31, 2025, coinciding with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas — the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was born on 31 October 1875. A total of 1,466 police personnel across India were honoured with this award for exceptional efficiency, professionalism, and outstanding service in their respective roles.

The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak was instituted in February 2024 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as a new category of police gallantry and efficiency award, distinct from the long-standing Police Medal for Gallantry and the President's Police Medal. The award is specifically designed to recognise personnel who demonstrate exceptional technical skill, investigative expertise, operational excellence, or professional efficiency rather than battlefield bravery alone.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) topped the recipients' list with 1,033 awardees, reflecting the force's extensive deployment in counter-insurgency, anti-Naxal operations, and internal security duties across Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, and Northeast India. Additionally, Jammu & Kashmir police officers and central paramilitary personnel deployed in counter-terrorism operations were recognised with the award.

The choice of October 31 — Rashtriya Ekta Diwas — to announce police awards is symbolically significant. October 31 marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, whose unification of 562 princely states cemented the territorial integrity of India, and the police and paramilitary forces remain the front-line guardians of that integrity.

For Rajasthan, the broader significance is that the state shares a roughly 1,037 km border with Pakistan, and central paramilitary forces such as the CRPF that received the 2025 Dakshata Padak are deployed nationwide in internal-security and border-area duties.
