Diwali 2025 retail sales hit a record ₹6.05 lakh crore, comprising ₹5.40 lakh crore in goods and ₹65,000 crore in services, marking a 25% year-on-year growth from ₹4.25 lakh crore in 2024, according to CAIT data released on October 21.

Around 87% of buyers opted for Indian-made goods, reflecting a strong Swadeshi push, while sales of Chinese products declined across cities. About 5 million temporary jobs were generated in logistics, packaging, transport, and retail. Rural and semi-urban India contributed 28% of total sales, demonstrating inclusive consumption growth. The Trader Confidence Index stood at 8.6/10 and the Consumer Confidence Index at 8.4/10.
