India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa were the chief guests — the first time EU leaders served as chief guests, and the first occasion since 2018 with multiple chief guests. The theme was '150 Years of Vande Mataram', celebrating the national song composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The parade featured 30 tableaux (17 from States/UTs, 13 from Ministries), approximately 2,500 cultural artists, and around 10,000 Special Guests including farmers, scientists, women entrepreneurs, students, and sportspersons. President Droupadi Murmu took the salute.
