NITI Aayog recommended the launch of a National AI Talent Mission to position India as a global hub for artificial intelligence workforce development. The recommendation appears in NITI Aayog's Roadmap for Job Creation in the AI Economy. Separately, the National Monetisation Pipeline 2.0 (NMP 2.0) estimates that private-sector participation across 12 infrastructure sectors could add about ₹40 lakh crore to India's GDP over the next five to ten years. The AI Talent Mission aims to bridge the widening skill gap in AI and machine learning, leverage India's demographic dividend, and create a pipeline of AI professionals for both domestic industry and global markets. The initiative aligns with India's broader Digital India and emerging technology policy framework.
