India's 77th Republic Day Parade 2026 at Kartavya Path concluded with a set of prestigious awards recognising the best performances among States, Union Territories, Central Ministries, and Armed Forces contingents. Maharashtra won the Best Tableau award (States/UTs category) for its tableau titled 'Ganeshotsav: A Symbol of Aatmanirbharta', which showcased the cultural heritage of Ganeshotsav, community participation, social unity, and self-reliance — with participation from a Nagpur dhol-tasha group. Jammu and Kashmir won second place for its handicrafts and folk dance tableau, and Kerala stood third for its tableau highlighting the Water Metro project and 100% digital literacy achievement. In the Popular Choice category (decided by public voting on MyGov platform), Gujarat secured first, Uttar Pradesh second, and Rajasthan third — for its tableau 'The Golden Touch of the Desert', inspired by Bikaner's centuries-old Usta art tradition. Usta art is famed for its gold inlay work on camel hide, representing timeless craftsmanship and Bikaner's distinguished place in India's craft heritage. The tableau featured a rotating sculpture of an artist playing the Ravanhatta, framed artworks, and a majestic camel statue with a rider. The award was received by Rajasthan's Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism, Art, Literature, and Culture, Praveen Gupta. Among the Armed Forces, the Indian Navy was adjudged the Best Marching Contingent, while Delhi Police won the top honour among the Central Armed Police Forces. A landmark highlight of the 77th Republic Day Parade was the parade debut of the newly raised Bhairav Battalion — a specialised assault infantry unit — along with the Shaktiban Regiment, Zanskar ponies, and Bactrian camels, all participating in the ceremonial event for the first time. The Bhairav Battalion's inclusion underlines India's ongoing military modernisation and the development of specialised combat capabilities. The parade's 29-aircraft fly-past and motorcycle stunts by the Dare Devils team added to the spectacle at Kartavya Path.
