INS Sunayna, an Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Indian Navy, set sail from Mumbai as Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR on April 2, carrying naval personnel from India and sixteen friendly foreign countries. The deployment was flagged off by Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth in the presence of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.

The IOS SAGAR initiative underscores India's role as a net security provider in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The multi-nation deployment demonstrates India's commitment to collaborative maritime security, capacity building, and interoperability with partner navies. The exercise covers areas of maritime domain awareness, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and anti-piracy operations. India's growing naval diplomacy reflects its SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision articulated by the Prime Minister.
