The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), marketed under the Amul brand, was ranked the world's No. 1 cooperative in the ICA World Cooperative Monitor 2025, based on GDP per capita performance. The ranking was announced during the ICA Cooperative Milestones 50 (CM50) Conference held in Doha, Qatar. GCMMF achieved the distinction with an annual turnover of USD 7.3 billion and daily milk procurement of approximately 35 million litres from over 3.6 million farmer-members across 18,600 village milk cooperative societies in Gujarat. Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) was ranked No. 2 globally, making India's cooperatives the top two in the world. The achievement is seen as a validation of India's 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi' (Prosperity through Cooperation) model, and coincides with the government's push for cooperative federalism through the new Ministry of Cooperation formed in 2021.
