Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on April 10, 2026 released the Bharatiya Janata Party's manifesto, titled Sankalp Patra, for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 at a function in Kolkata. The manifesto, themed around the concept of Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal), is a 15-point roadmap centred on national security, youth employment, women's safety, and welfare delivery. Key promises include the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months of forming the government, implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and full Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees, and generation of one crore jobs and self-employment opportunities over five years. For women, the BJP pledged monthly financial assistance of ₹3,000 under a new scheme, 33 per cent reservation in state government jobs, formation of women-only police battalions, and the Durga Suraksha Sahaya programme. The party also promised free HPV vaccination and breast cancer screening for women. On internal security, the manifesto committed to a zero-tolerance detect, delete, and deport policy against illegal infiltrators. Cultural promises included inclusion of Kurmali and Rajbanshi languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, and enhanced support for agricultural crops such as rice, potato, and mango. The manifesto further pledged AIIMS, IIT, and IIM institutions in North Bengal and implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana along with all central government schemes. West Bengal's 294 assembly seats are set to go to polls in 2026, with incumbent Trinamool Congress and BJP as principal contenders.
