Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of an Integrated Aqua Park at Tzudikong in Mokokchung district of Nagaland on October 11, 2025, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This will be the first Aqua Park in Nagaland, designed to strengthen the state's fisheries sector through integrated fish and fish seed production. PMMSY was launched in 2020 as part of the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' package with a total outlay of ₹20,050 crore over five years (2020–25) to bring about a Blue Revolution in India's fisheries sector. Its original goals included doubling fishers' incomes, generating about 55 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities, and reducing post-harvest losses; later official data reported total fish production at about 197.75 lakh tonnes in 2024-25. The initiative underlines the government's thrust on transforming fisheries in Northeastern states, leveraging their freshwater resources.
