President Droupadi Murmu graced and addressed Jal Mahotsav 2026 in New Delhi on March 11, 2026, a nationwide campaign organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti to strengthen community participation in rural drinking water service delivery. The President called for making water conservation 'an integral part of daily life' and emphasised the importance of groundwater recharge, greywater management and community-driven initiatives. The Mahotsav highlights programmes like 'Catch the Rain' for rainwater harvesting and 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari' for community participation in water conservation. The event comes alongside the extension of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 to December 2028, which aims to provide tap water to all 19.36 crore rural households.
