India observed Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7, 2025 — an annual national observance held on this date since 1949. The day is dedicated to collecting funds for the welfare of serving defence personnel, battle casualties, war widows (Veer Naris), ex-servicemen, and their dependents across the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan extended warm greetings to all military personnel, veterans, and Veer Naris, acknowledging their dedicated service to India's defence. The theme for Armed Forces Flag Day 2025 was 'Welfare and Gratitude'. All three service branches — Army, Navy, and Air Force — organised events including parades, cultural programmes, and public outreach to collect donations. The distinctive tri-coloured flags in red (Army), dark blue (Navy), and light blue (Air Force) were distributed to the public in exchange for voluntary contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, managed by the Kendriya Sainik Board. The Fund supports programmes including rehabilitation of disabled veterans, education of children of martyred soldiers, and welfare of Veer Naris. December 7 also carries historical significance as the date marking India's armed forces solidarity post-Independence. In Rajasthan — a state with the largest number of serving soldiers per capita — ex-servicemen organisations conducted flag distribution drives across all 50 districts, reflecting the state's deep bond with its military heritage.
