The Rajasthan government under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched the Vishwakarma Yuva Udyami Protsahan Yojana to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth. The scheme provides subsidised loans of up to ₹2 crore for setting up or expanding manufacturing and service-based enterprises. Eligible beneficiaries — permanent residents of Rajasthan aged 18 to 45 — can avail margin money assistance of up to ₹5 lakh along with an interest subsidy, significantly lowering the barrier to institutional finance. The scheme targets the traditional artisan and craftsperson community (Vishwakarma communities) as well as broader youth segments. It is designed to complement the Rajasthan government's broader employment goal of generating 4 lakh government jobs and 6 lakh private sector jobs within five years. The scheme also integrates with skill development programmes to ensure beneficiaries can sustainably manage their enterprises. The launch is seen as a significant welfare measure ahead of the government completing two years in office, reinforcing the Bhajanlal government's focus on economic empowerment and reducing unemployment in Rajasthan.
