Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned ICGS Samudra Pratap on December 23, 2025 at Goa Shipyard Limited in Vasco-da-Gama. It is India's first indigenously designed and built Pollution Control Vessel and the largest ship in the Indian Coast Guard fleet. The vessel measures 114.5 metres in length, 16.5 metres in breadth, and displaces 4,170 tonnes. With over 60% indigenous content, the vessel underscores the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. It is equipped with a 30mm CRN-91 gun, two 12.7mm stabilised remote-controlled guns, Dynamic Positioning capability (DP-1), oil spill detection systems including an oil fingerprinting machine, and gyro-stabilised standoff active chemical detectors.
