India dominated the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 held in New Delhi from March 11–13, 2026, finishing at the top of the medal tally with a record 208 medals — comprising 75 gold, 69 silver, and 64 bronze. Around 257 athletes from eight nations — India, Russia, Nepal, Bhutan, Hong Kong China, Serbia, Bosnia, and Egypt — participated. India fielded the largest contingent of 219 athletes across multiple track and field events and sport classifications. Russia finished a distant second with 35 medals (15 gold), while Bosnia and Herzegovina claimed third.

Standout performances included two-time Paris 2024 Paralympic medallist Preethi Pal winning gold in the Women's 200m T35–T37 category with a time of 30.26 seconds. Sumit Antil — the reigning Paralympic champion and world record holder in men's javelin F64 — claimed gold with a throw of 69.25 metres. The Grand Prix served as an important international benchmark event for Indian para-athletes ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.

The event was organised by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and the World Para Athletics (WPA), reflecting India's growing stature as a host of international para-sport events. The success builds on India's historic performance at Paris 2024 Paralympics where India won 29 medals (7 gold, 9 silver, 13 bronze) — its best-ever haul.

Rajasthan Relevance: Rajasthan has produced several para-athletes under the state's sports schemes. The RPSC RAS curriculum under Paper-II covers India's achievements in science, sports, and technology. Para-sports promotion also aligns with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, which mandates inclusive participation and equal opportunities in sports for persons with disabilities.
