Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated India's first commercial electric truck battery swapping and charging station on October 8 at the Delhi International Cargo Terminal in Panchi Gujran, Sonipat, Haryana. Developed by Energy in Motion, the station allows heavy truck batteries to be swapped in just 7 minutes compared to 2 hours for traditional charging.

Gadkari noted that battery prices have decreased 50-60% and urged transporters to transition to cleaner alternatives. He said electric trucks will run at lower costs than railways. The facility aims to reduce carbon emissions, increase logistics efficiency, and align with PM Modi's goals of energy independence by 2047 and net-zero emissions by 2070. Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was also present.
