India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US counterpart Pete Hegseth signed the 10-year Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership on October 31, 2025, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM Plus) in Kuala Lumpur. The agreement is the most ambitious renewal of a framework first signed in 2005 and last renewed in 2015.

The framework envisions joint development and production in intelligence, surveillance, undersea domain awareness, air combat, munitions, and mobility. It supports developing India as a regional hub for logistics, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and promotes reviewing export control restrictions. Key exercises like Yudh Abhyas, Malabar, and Tiger Triumph will be enhanced under the framework.
