India observed Shaurya Diwas on October 27, 2025, commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Indian Army's landing in Srinagar in 1947 to repel Pakistani invaders. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi flagged off 'Shaurya Veer — Run for India 2025' in New Delhi, with over 10,000 runners participating.

On October 27, 1947, Indian infantry became the first Armed Forces personnel to land in Srinagar after the Instrument of Accession was signed by Maharaja Hari Singh. The troops successfully defended the Kashmir Valley from tribal raiders backed by Pakistan. Shaurya Diwas is observed annually to honour the bravery of Indian Armed Forces.
