The 3rd International Purple Fest 2025 was held in Goa from October 9-12, 2025, and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. The Goa Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities hosted the fest in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and United Nations India. Its central focus was to showcase inclusion, talent, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

For exam preparation, this update connects directly with social justice, public policy, and skill development. It shows how disability inclusion is not limited to welfare delivery; it also involves education access, training, sports participation, public awareness, and cooperation among government and institutional actors. For RAS and UPSC-style answers, the event can be used as a current example under inclusive development, governance, and social-sector initiatives. In prelims, the date, place, host, and initiatives may be asked; in mains, it can serve as a social-justice example.

Key initiatives included the launch of an accessible IELTS Training Handbook for individuals with disabilities and a Specialized Training Programme on American Sign Language and British Sign Language. These initiatives are relevant because language access and exam-preparation support can affect participation by persons with disabilities in education and skill pathways.

The fest also featured the Purple Think Tank, exhibitions, and a Paralympic Boccia tournament. This widened the event beyond a ceremonial gathering and linked it with policy discussion, public awareness, and sports inclusion. As a static-GK linkage, remember it with Indian Constitution & Governance, especially public policy and grievance redressal, and with Indian Economy, especially skill development and social justice.
