Rajasthan geared up for its first-ever interstate tiger translocation and India's second, with teams from the state arriving at Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh in November 2025 to identify a tigress for translocation to the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Bundi.

10-12 tracking teams and four elephant squads were deployed to locate tigress PN-224. The tigress would first be kept in a soft-release enclosure at Ramgarh Vishdhari to acclimatise to the new environment, climate, and prey base. The translocation aims to boost tiger numbers, strengthen genetic diversity, and revive ecological balance in Rajasthan's newly declared tiger reserve. The actual airlift via IAF helicopter was completed in December.
