A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Udalguri district, Assam, at 4:41 PM IST on September 14, 2025, at a depth of about 5 km, according to the India Meteorological Department. The epicenter was 19 km SSE of Udalguri and 30 km WSW of Dhekiajuli.

Two persons were injured and houses developed cracks with some ceilings collapsing. Two aftershocks (M 3.1 and M 2.9) followed. The event was located near the Kopili Fault, close to the 2021 M 6.4 Sonitpur earthquake. The region is classified in the highest seismic hazard Zone V by BIS.
