Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services Geraldo Alckmin made a three-day visit to India from October 15-17, 2025. The visit aimed to strengthen the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership and deepen cooperation in defence, energy, health and technology.

The most exam-relevant outcome of the visit was the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Embraer Defence & Security and Mahindra Group. The agreement relates to advancing the C-390 Millennium aircraft for the Indian Air Force's Medium Transport Aircraft programme. Based on the existing record, the potential deal may involve up to 80 aircraft, making it significant for both India's military transport capability and defence-industrial cooperation. Embraer also inaugurated its India subsidiary office in New Delhi, strengthening its institutional presence in India.

For RAS and UPSC-style exams, the C-390 Millennium is useful as an example of India-Brazil defence cooperation, military transport capability and private-sector participation in defence industry. In prelims, questions may test the person, country, date, aircraft and agreement. In mains, it can be used as an example for indigenisation in defence production, foreign technology cooperation, the role of private industry and strategic partnerships.
