The inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 commenced in Chhattisgarh on March 25, 2026, across Raipur, Jagdalpur and Sarguja, and continued until April 3, 2026. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya had announced the first-ever Games on March 6, 2026.

The Games were created as the first national multi-sport Khelo India event dedicated exclusively to tribal athletes, designed to identify and nurture sporting talent among India's tribal communities. They featured seven medal sports: athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming and wrestling, along with mallakhamb and kabaddi as demonstration sports. The event was jointly managed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Sports Authority of India, the Indian Olympic Association, National Sports Federations and the Chhattisgarh state organising committee. Around 3,800 participants, including athletes, coaches and officials, took part across nine sports disciplines.
