Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) 2026

Chhattisgarh is hosting the Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) 2026 from March 25 to April 3, 2026, across three host cities. This is a flagship sporting initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, designed to celebrate and promote tribal sporting culture and discover talent from India's tribal heartlands.

Host Cities

The games are spread across three cities of Chhattisgarh:

  • Raipur — state capital
  • Jagdalpur — Bastar division, heart of tribal Chhattisgarh
  • Surguja — northern tribal belt

Participation

  • Over 6,000 participants in total, including 2,300 athletes
  • Athletes drawn from tribal communities across India
  • Multiple states and Union Territories are represented

Sports & Competition

  • A wide range of disciplines including both mainstream sports and traditional tribal games
  • Traditional tribal games highlight the indigenous sporting heritage of India's tribal communities
  • The format promotes inclusivity, giving tribal athletes a national platform
