Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bikaner Rajasthan on the evening of 25 May 2026 for a two day visit to review border security arrangements along the India Pakistan border and to interact directly with Border Security Force personnel deployed in the western sector. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma received the Home Minister on arrival. During the visit Shah inaugurated newly constructed barracks for women personnel at the Sanchu border outpost and inaugurated a BSF exhibition showcasing operational equipment, surveillance technology and the role of women in border guarding. The Home Minister interacted with BSF jawans and senior officers, taking direct feedback on the prevailing security situation, operational challenges and future strategies in the desert border terrain. On 26 May 2026 Shah is scheduled to chair a high level review meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, BSF, Rajasthan state administration, intelligence agencies and district magistrates of border districts. The agenda includes strengthening anti infiltration grids, smart fencing under the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System, anti drone deployment in the Punjab Rajasthan sector, narcotics interdiction, development of border roads and Vibrant Villages Programme coverage in border villages. Rajasthan shares a 1,070 km international border with Pakistan running through Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts, the longest stretch among Indian states after Gujarat in the western sector. The visit underlines Centre State coordination on internal security and reflects sustained focus on women in central armed police forces, with BSF having raised dedicated mahila contingents and now provisioning gender specific infrastructure at frontier posts.
