The Nobel Prize in Literature 2025 was awarded to Hungarian novelist Laszlo Krasznahorkai 'for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, in the midst of apocalyptic terror, reaffirms the power of art'. The announcement was made on October 9, 2025. He is the second Hungarian Nobel laureate in Literature after Imre Kertesz in 2002.

Krasznahorkai, born in 1954, gained international recognition with his debut novel Satantango (1985). His acclaimed works include The Melancholy of Resistance (1989), War and War (1999), and Seiobo There Below (2008). The prize value is 11 million Swedish kronor.
