Parakram Diwas was observed on January 23, 2026, marking the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India's most revered freedom fighters. The Ministry of Culture organised commemorative celebrations from January 23 to 25 at Sri Vijaya Puram (formerly Port Blair), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, along with 13 other iconic locations across the country associated with Netaji's life and legacy, including the Indian National Army memorial sites.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on the same day, where he flagged off three Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Thiruvananthapuram-Tambaram, Thiruvananthapuram-Hyderabad, and Nagercoil-Mangaluru, as well as the Guruvayur-Thrissur passenger train. These new rail services are expected to benefit lakhs of commuters in the southern region. The PM also laid foundation stones for the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) Innovation Hub and a state-of-the-art Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology.

Parakram Diwas was officially instituted by the Government of India in 2021 to honour Netaji's indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation. The day serves as a reminder of his contributions to the Indian independence movement, particularly his leadership of the Indian National Army and the Azad Hind government.
