The Ministry of Mines issued detailed guidelines for the Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme (CMRIS), a flagship initiative under the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM). The scheme targets a recycling capacity of 270 kilotonnes annually, with an investment goal of ₹8,000 crore.

CMRIS focuses on recycling lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements from e-waste, spent lithium-ion batteries, and industrial scrap. The scheme runs from FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31 and targets production of 40 kilotonnes of critical minerals. The broader NCMM targets 1,200 exploration projects, 400 KT recycling capacity, and 1,000 patents during its duration.
